MAREN PROJECT – Marine Renewable Energies – Call for case study stakeholders
The MAREN Project is a collaborative-stakeholder linked- international research programme co-financed with the support of the EU ERDF Atlantic Area Programme. The research partners are; Cardiff University’s Hydro-environmental Research Centre, National University of Ireland, Galway; University of Cantabria, Spain, Centec, Instituto Superior Tecnico, Portugal, and Iferner, France; bringing a wide range of technological expertise to the modelling work. MAREN investigates the marine renewable energy forms of; offshore wind, tidal current, tidal barrage and lagoons, and wave, in the Atlantic Area to produce the following main outputs:• Country Modelling Case Studies• High resolution modelling and mapping of the resource potential• Assessment of marine renewable energy device performance• Assessment of the Environmental Impact• Future climate change scenarios – for resource, impacts and design requirements• Carbon emission life-cycle analysis• Comparative analysis of EIA and SEA protocol across the Atlantic corridor In the UK, MAREN proposes to work on the following case study sites: tidal barrage and tidal stream - Severn estuary & Llanelli- Loughor barrage, tidal impoundments – Rhyl, Bridgewater bay & potentially Swansea bay ; wave ...
