SEACAMS research project

 

SEACAMS is a collaborative project between Bangor, Swansea and Aberystwyth Universities. This knowledge and innovation for growth project will be delivered through a strong team of research and business development officers who will interface with businesses to promote the expertise within the SEACAMS partnership and initiate liaison leading to collaborative projects.

The aim of SEACAMS is to promote economic activity, growth of SMEs, and generate jobs through the expansion of commercial opportunities and activities, in the marine sector in Wales, in order to increase wealth creation within the Convergence Region of Wales. SEACAMS will establish Wales as an international hub for inward investment and expanding development in the marine technologies and services sector.

SEACAMS is an investment in personnel and infrastructure that will forge a unified Wales development of the components of the marine sector by means of an innovative partnership between the stakeholders in the sector. It will promote, support, and sustain growth of businesses in Wales. It will increase economic activity via collaborative research and technology developments (R&TD) and by accelerated and improved knowledge transfer (KT) to the public and private sectors.

SEACAMS aims to:

  • Increase commercially-driven R & D
  • Maximise economic impact of research & business
  • Expand knowledge-based/technology companies

Focussing on adaptation/mitigation to climate change in the most economically-valuable and most impacted part of the environment – the coastal zone. The coastal zone is a major contributor to the Low Carbon Economy which provides unparalleled opportunities for expansion of capacity and capability in the business sector.
